Photography is psychology — we say that because the only method of depicting personality in a picture is to understand the client personally.
If you’re a photographer, you must aim to accumulate as much information as you can about them during the consultation or the photo session in order to reflect on their personality, connection, or bond accordingly. A simple method to do so is to ask questions.
Photography As An Experience
A captivating photo has a deeper meaning, so you should decide the vibe being portrayed before setting the tone. Amp up your clients by telling them how exciting the photo session will be for more spontaneous, relaxed, and candid photos — this helps ease any tension the client may be experiencing from being in front of the lens.
Ready for Adaption?
No photographer remains a stranger to ‘change’. Instead of expecting the client to make any changes, a good photographer adapts readily to the situation at hand to allow for their clients to feel confident and comfortable. For example, when photographing a pet, you’ll get the best picture in an environment the pet is familiar with.
Posing For A Child
A photoshoot must be showcased as a game to keep the kids from looking uncomfortable in the images. Children tend to get stressed when asked to behave, and it shows right on their faces.
You must engage with the children for them to pose, which almost always guarantees better shots. But with children and pets, always bear in mind that the shoot can go south at any time.
Induce Laughter
We don’t believe in taking stiff photos; what you want is for your clients is to get candid enough to forget the formalities of the photoshoot.
To pull the character out of the subject in its entirety, you want to disassociate with any notions of ‘rules for a photoshoot.’ You can also try to play music as it helps the subject relax and express more emotions.
Commemorating Romance
For capturing a couple and commemorating their love, you want to understand their bond. The more romantic a couple can get when posing, the better the pictures are likely to turn out.
Kissing, cuddling, or hugging are great ideas for posing but wouldn’t it get a whole lot better if the photoshoot is assumed to be an epic date?
