As parents, we want to take unique, interesting, and memorable photos with our babies. And what is a better backdrop to those photos than the lush green background, colorful flowers, and gentle breeze? They provide something homes or studios never can, and that is authenticity. You don’t have to create a fake environment with children when setting up an outdoor baby photography session. Instead, all you need to do is let the sunshine down on their faces and capture their toothless grin. But photographing a baby is never easy, so here are some tips that can help you pull off an outdoor shoot successfully.

Scout For a Location

There is nothing harder than putting a baby to sleep because they are usually light sleepers, making them much harder to photograph. Your best bet is to set up a place for your shoot and then bring the baby out once you are satisfied with the atmosphere and know that the noise isn’t going to be a big problem.

If you can’t bring your baby outside, which is understandable because some babies get uneasy and fussy when you bring them outside, you can always bring the outdoors inside. Just place a few flowers inside the basket or place the babies inside the house among some plants.

Hold The Baby

Many families don’t have a lot of indoor space, which means that they are unable to take good family portraits indoors. And this is exactly why people try to hold outdoor shoots because they can find the perfect location to take pictures. These can be candid pictures of you out and about with your baby or posed photos.

You obviously will need another person to take these kinds of photos if you want them to be super accurate. Alternatively, you could also set up a tripod and timer to do it. Either way, take time to hold your babies and take lasting photos with them.

Prepare For Crawlers

If your baby is at the crawling stage, then you have to take extra precautions and set up a safe area to photograph them. It is better to shoot these babies in places like parks to protect their hands and knees. Alternatively, you could set up a basket, a playpen, or a picnic-style blanket to keep the kids contained in a specific location. It is also a good idea to distract them with toys.

If you aren’t confident about managing the baby and taking pictures at the same time, then it might be a good idea to invest in an experienced and professional photographer.
